Dr. Leonard Moore

Vice President for Diversity and Community Engagement and a Professor of American History at The University of Texas at Austin

A Cleveland native and Jackson State University alum, Dr. Moore earned his Ph.D. from Ohio State University. He taught at LSU from 1998-2007 and joined UT Austin afterward. Despite administrative duties, he teaches courses on the Black Power Movement and Race in the Age of Trump to 1,000 students and has a faculty appointment at UT Law School. He directs study abroad programs in Beijing and Cape Town, promoting diversity in global education.

Dr. Ryan Sutton

Associate Dean at Dell Medical School

Prior to joining Dell Med, Sutton served as director of the Herman Sweatt Center for Black Males and the Community Integrated Health Initiative at The University of Texas at Austin. In these roles, he developed, implemented and expanded programming and services that enriched the educational experience of underrepresented students. In addition to his role at Dell Med, he holds an assistant professor of practice appointment in UT’s McCombs School of Business and College of Education, where he teaches classes and holds trainings on topics such as psychological assessment, mental health and health equity. Sutton received his undergraduate degree from Xavier University of Louisiana and his master’s and doctorate from Howard University.

Texas in June is sizzling. Be sure to pack accordingly for hot weather. We’ll be indoors for the majority of the time, and while we’ll do our best to ensure you’re hydrated and not under direct sun. Please be sure to bring the necessary items for sun protection!

There won’t be any strenuous physical activities as part of the agenda, but comfortable shoes are still recommended. Essentials such as towels, a coffee maker, and a hairdryer are provided at the hotel. Feel free to check out The Line’s lodging options and amenities here and reach out if you have any questions.

  • Medications or supplies (If you take any medications throughout the day, please make sure to have them on you. You will be separated from your bags the beginning of Friday)

  • Comfortable clothes and shoes – something nice(er) to wear for dinner (if you want!)

  • Comfortable fitness gear (optional for walking around)

Parking Details

at The LINE Hotel Austin

Valet Parking

Parking will be provided by SalesLabX, so please provide your name and ID to the valet and they should associate it with our account.

When you arrive at The Line Hotel off Cesar Chavez, you will pull into the entrance, and there you will find valet. The valet can assist you with your luggage at the hotel.

If you are out of town and arriving before check-in time on Thursday at 3 pm CST, you can store your luggage at the Bell Desk located inside the lobby or leave it in your car until your room is ready. We recommend that you grab any essentials, such as medications, from your bags in case you need them.

Self-Parking

To self-park, you arrive at The Line Hotel off Cesar Chavez. You will pull into the entrance and go past the valet to enter the self-parking garage. You can park on any floor in the South Parking garage.
